Making the Case for FACS

GMA discussion

I was so excited when the topic of this segment of Good Morning America was devoted to a discussion of the value of Family and Consumer Science.  Co-host Robin Roberts made an eloquent and impassioned case for the value of FACS.  She even corrected Dan Abrams’ use of the outdated term Home Economics!  Others on the panel agreed with Robin that FACS is an important part of the school curriculum.  YAY and a big thank you to GMA!!

Have you been paying attention lately?  This is not the first time that the importance of FACS has been the topic of discussion!  In fact, it’s not even the first time that it’s come up for public discussion this week!!  Check out this really good article in this week’s Wall Street Journal.  The title of the article is Who Says Home-Ec Isn’t a Core Subject? by Christine Gross-Loh.  The door for FACS professionals and proponents is opening just a crack and we need to kick it open all the way so that we have the opportunity to be an active part of the discussion.  It’s time to let everyone know what we do and how important it is!  Spread the word by sharing these articles and others like them!
