Historical FACS

One of the core academic areas most often overlooked when expanding the FACS curriculum is an emphasis on history, a fact that baffles me because it’s also one of the easiest to integrate.  Quality period pieces like these make history come alive.  If you aren’t a history buff, check out these fascinating productions and you just might change your mind and the minds of your students as well.

Mr. Selfridge tells the story of Harry Gordon Selfridge and his efforts to create the first modern department store in London.  The series debuts on PBS March 31.  Check out the preview video.  http://video.pbs.org/video/2322877684/

Downton Abbey is one of the best historical dramas produced in a very long time.
