May is National Egg Month.  This is the time of year that the egg industry reminds everyone about the many benefits of eating eggs.  Here are a few nutritional facts about eggs>

  • For as little as 75 calories, an egg provides 12% of the Daily Value of protein and a wide variety of other nutrients such as vitamin A, B6, B12, D, folate, iron, phosphorus, and zinc in varying amounts.
  • Recent studies show that eggs have less cholesterol than previously thought.  USDA research shows that the average amount of cholesterol in a Grade A, large egg is 185 mg, 14% lower than previously recorded.
